Clinicopathological profile of non-hodgkin lymphomas affecting the parotid glands

Resumen

Los linfomas que afectan a las glándulas parótidas son poco frecuentes y el 79% de todos los casos están representados por linfomas no Hodgkin (LNH). El objetivo de este estudio es investigar las características clínico-patológicas e inmunohistoquímicas de una serie de linfomas que afectan a las glándulas parótidas. Todos los casos diagnosticados en un servicio de patología entre enero de 2008 y diciembre de 2018 se recuperaron retrospectivamente y se evaluaron los bloques de tejido fijados con formalina e incluidos en parafina para confirmar el diagnóstico. Los datos clínicos se obtuvieron de los expedientes médicos de los pacientes. Obtuvimos doce casos de LNH en las glándulas parótidas que representan nueve linfomas MALT, dos linfomas foliculares (FL) y un linfoma difuso de células B grandes, no especificado de otra manera (DLBCL, NOS). Hubo predilección por el sexo femenino (10F:2M), y en todos los casos se pudo confirmar la afectación de las glándulas parótidas mediante evaluación macroscópica, estudios de imagen o evaluación histológica. Clínicamente, la mayoría de las lesiones se presentaron como inflamaciones asintomáticas en la región parótida, aunque se informó dolor asociado en un caso de FL y tres pacientes con linfoma MALT tuvieron síntomas secos. En conclusión, los LNH que afectan las glándulas parótidas suelen ser de linaje de células B maduras, por lo general representan subtipos de bajo grado y con frecuencia simulan otras afecciones benignas o malignas.
